Boost Fitness

Terms and Conditions

Last updated 5 October 2026

1. Who we are

Boost Fitness ("we", "us", "our") is an online personal training and nutrition coaching service operated by David Thornhill, trading as Boost Fitness. Company registration number: 2023/005868/07 Registered address: Boost Fitness, 1st Floor, Dentsu Building, 183 Sir Lowry Road, Woodstock, Cape Town, 7925 Contact: david.cttrainer@gmail.com By creating an account or subscribing to any Boost Fitness tier, you ("you", "the client") agree to these Terms and Conditions.

2. The service

Boost Fitness delivers training programmes, nutrition guidance, and progress tracking through the Boost Fitness app, at the following tiers (current pricing, subject to Section 10): Boost Together (Free, permanent): community pod, auto-assigned 4-week beginner home programme, basic nutrition starter guide. Boost Go (R299/month): self-service gym or home programme template, basic food log, one-time Benchmark attempt, self-service Couch to 5K/10K running programme. Boost Mommies (part of Boost Go, R299/month): if you tell us you're pregnant, gave birth in the last 12 months, or are breastfeeding, your Boost Go programme and nutrition follow our pregnancy and postnatal rules. Same plan, same price, same trial. A coach checks your answers before your programme starts, and we may ask for clearance from your doctor or midwife first. Nutrition Only (R199/month): personalised eating plan, calorie/macro targets, monthly measurement tracking. Nutrition + Home Training / Boost Move (R650/month, not currently open to new signups): Nutrition Only, plus the Boost Move rotating home programme, full Boost Benchmark, detailed Progress Tracker, Couch to 5K/10K running programme. Full Coaching / Boost Coach (R950/month): Nutrition Only in full, plus a personalised gym programme with a mandatory monthly human review before it reaches you. Premium Coaching / Boost Coach+ (R1,500/month): everything in Full Coaching, with weekly instead of monthly review and adjustment. Boost Active Living (R99-R199/resident/month): facility contract for retirement homes/assisted living, governed by a separate facility agreement, not this consumer-facing document. Programme and nutrition content is generated using our AI-assisted coaching system. For Full Coaching and Premium Coaching, every new programme or adjustment is reviewed by a qualified coach before it reaches you. Other tiers are delivered on a fully automated basis, with coach oversight available at our discretion. AI-generated content, what this means for you: we use an artificial intelligence system to draft your training programme, progress reports, and related content, based on the information you provide (your goals, training history, injuries, and check-in data) and, for Full Coaching and Premium Coaching, a qualified coach's own review and edits before it reaches you. AI-drafted content, like any coaching output, can occasionally contain an error, an exercise that doesn't suit an injury you've disclosed, a figure that doesn't add up, a suggestion that doesn't fit your situation. It is not a substitute for your own judgement or for professional medical advice. Always listen to your body: stop any exercise that causes pain and tell your coach, and consult a doctor before continuing if something feels wrong. If you spot an error in AI-generated content, report it through the app (Report a problem) or contact us directly, and we will correct it.

3. Signing up

To subscribe, you must: Be 18 years or older, or be 16-17 with verified parental/guardian consent obtained during signup per our Minors Policy. Self-service signup is not available under 16. Complete our PAR-Q health screening and medical intake honestly and completely. Separately accept our Liability Waiver as its own signed step. Provide accurate billing information when you pay. We reserve the right to decline or terminate a subscription where our screening process identifies a health risk that cannot be safely accommodated, or where information provided at signup is found to be materially false.

4. Free trial

Every paid plan starts with 7 days free. One free trial per person. Boost Go (including Boost Mommies) and Nutrition Only: 7 days free with no card needed. If you haven't added payment details by day 7, your account moves to the free Boost Together plan and nothing is charged. We remind you before your free days end. Boost Coach and Coach+ (and any plan started without the no-card link): 7 days free. Your card is checked for R0 and nothing is charged for 7 days. If you picked a start date ahead of time, your 7 days count from that date. We remind you 2 days before the first charge, in the app and by email. If you don't cancel, your plan carries on and your card is charged when the 7 days end. If you add a card during a no-card trial, your first charge falls on the day your free days end. Clients moving into the app from an existing paid Boost Fitness arrangement don't get a trial and are billed from their existing plan straight away. Boost Together is free, so it has no trial. Boost Active Living is billed under a separate facility contract.

5. Billing and cancellation

How you pay: by card, through our payment provider PayFast. Recurring billing is card only. Instant EFT, Apple Pay and Google Pay only work for once-off payments. Monthly plans: charged once a month, in advance. Yearly plans: 11 times the monthly price (one month free), charged once a year, in advance. On a yearly plan you can move up to a bigger plan at your renewal date, not part way through the year. To move from yearly to monthly billing, contact us. Moving up on a monthly plan: you choose to switch now or on your next bill date. If you switch now, a new monthly cycle starts today at the new price, and the time left on your old plan is not refunded. The app shows you the exact amount and dates before you confirm. Moving down: takes effect on your next bill date. You keep your current plan until then. Cancelling: cancel any time in the app, under Manage billing. Nothing more is charged. You keep your plan until the end of the time you've paid for (or the end of your free trial), then your account moves to the free Boost Together plan. Refunds are covered in Section 6. Failed payments: if a payment fails, we tell you in the app and by email. You keep your plan for 14 days while you sort out your card. If it's still unpaid after 14 days, your account moves to the free Boost Together plan. We don't pause accounts. Promo codes and other discounts: a promo code, or any other discount we offer you, comes off your first charge only, unless we tell you otherwise. After that you pay the normal price. Personal pricing: if we've agreed a personal monthly price with you, it replaces the plan's normal price. A yearly plan is then 11 times that price. Referral credit: see Section 7. Price increases: we may increase subscription prices from time to time. We will give you advance notice of at least 30 days before any increased price is charged to your account. Continued use of the service after that notice period constitutes acceptance of the new price; you may cancel before the new price takes effect if you do not agree to it.

6. Refunds

Free trial: the 7-day free trial is your chance to try everything. Cancel any time during the trial and you pay nothing. Your first payment: if you cancel within 7 days of your first payment, we refund it in full. Your paid access ends when we refund it, and your account moves to the free Boost Together plan. Monthly plans after that: cancel any time. Your plan carries on to the end of the month you've paid for. We don't refund part months. Yearly plans: you can cancel at any time by giving us 20 business days' notice. We refund the part you haven't used. We work it out like this: the time you've used, up to the end of your notice period, is charged at your normal monthly price (by the day for a part month), because the yearly price already includes a free month. We refund the rest and deduct nothing else. Example: a R3,289 Boost Go year with exactly 4 months used is 4 x R299 = R1,196, so we refund R2,093. We never refund more than you paid. If you'd rather keep your plan until the end of the year you've paid for, you can, and then there's no refund. Gifts: see Section 8. Charged by mistake, or couldn't use what you paid for? Tell us and we'll put it right, whatever the dates above say. How to ask: use Report a problem in the app, message your coach, or email david.cttrainer@gmail.com. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through PayFast, within 10 business days of us agreeing the refund. Your bank may take a few more days to show it. Nothing in these Terms takes away any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.

7. Referral programme

Where offered, our referral programme rewards clients whose referrals become genuine paying clients (not a blanket discount available to everyone). When someone you refer makes their first payment, you receive a credit worth 25% of one month's price of whichever plan you are actively subscribed to at the time (not the plan your referral signed up for), taken off your own next bill, whether you pay monthly or yearly. Multiple referral credits can stack on a single bill, capped at one month's price. The cap is hard and unused credit does not carry over or bank for a future bill, if you refer more people in one billing cycle than the cap can use, the extra credit is spent, not saved. Referral rewards may be withdrawn or amended at any time and do not apply retroactively.

8. Gift subscriptions

We offer prepaid gift subscriptions, purchased by one person (the purchaser) for another (the recipient). The following applies in addition to the rest of these Terms: A gift is a single, once-off payment for a fixed tier and a fixed number of months, set at the time the gift link is created. It is not a recurring charge on the purchaser's payment method, and the purchaser is never billed again for it. The recipient has 7 days from being sent their activation link to create their account. If they do not activate within 7 days, the gift period begins automatically on day 7 regardless, so that a prepaid gift does not go unused indefinitely. Once activated (whether by the recipient or automatically), the gift period runs for the full prepaid duration from that date. Refunds for the purchaser: you can cancel a gift within 7 days of paying for it and get a full refund. If the recipient has already started using it, the gift ends on the day we refund it. After those 7 days, gifts can't be refunded, including any part the recipient doesn't use. Switching tiers during a gift: a recipient may switch to a different tier at any time. Doing so ends the gift immediately and starts a new billing cycle at the new tier's normal price from that day. Any remaining prepaid time on the gift is forfeited, with no partial refund or credit, by default. For gifts of 3 months or more, where a whole calendar month or more of the gift remains unused beyond the month in which the switch is requested, we may, at our sole discretion, agree a credit toward the new tier's billing with the recipient directly. This is not an automatic or guaranteed right, it requires contacting us and reaching an agreed amount, which we will then apply as a one-off discount to the new tier's first charge. At the end of a gift period, if the recipient has not added their own payment details to continue, their account moves automatically to the free Boost Together tier. We send reminders partway through the gift and again 7 days before it ends.

9. Your health and safety

Personal training carries inherent risk. By subscribing, you separately acknowledge and accept our Liability Waiver and Fitness Disclaimer, which set out your responsibilities in full, including your obligation to disclose your medical history accurately and to stop any exercise that causes pain or discomfort. Nothing in these Terms overrides or narrows what you agree to in those separate documents.

10. Changes to the service and these Terms

We may update these Terms, our tier structure, or the features included in any tier from time to time. Material changes affecting active subscribers will be communicated in advance. Where a change increases your price, Section 5's notice requirement applies. We'll tell you in the app or by email when these Terms change. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Your data

Our use of your personal information is governed by our separate Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us.

12. Intellectual property

The Boost Fitness app, our training methodology, programme templates, and all content we provide to you remain our intellectual property. Your subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own training during your active subscription. You may not redistribute, resell, or use our programming commercially.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, and except where caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct, Boost Fitness's total liability to you arising from your subscription is limited to the fees you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for non-payment, breach of these Terms, providing materially false information at signup, or conduct that puts our staff or other clients at risk. You may end your subscription at any time per Sections 5 and 6.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. Before either of us begins formal legal proceedings, we agree to first try to resolve any dispute directly, in good faith, by contacting each other; if that doesn't resolve things within 30 days, either party may refer the matter to mediation before a mutually agreed mediator, or proceed directly to the applicable South African court, mediation is offered as an option, never a requirement that stands in the way of your right to sue. Nothing in this section limits your right under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 to refer a complaint to the National Consumer Commission or another applicable ombud instead of, or in addition to, this process.
