Boost Fitness
Last updated 16 August 2026
Self-service app signup is open from age 16, with mandatory parental/guardian consent for 16 and 17 year olds. Adults (18+) sign up with no additional consent step. Under 16, self-service signup is not available at all, those clients continue to be onboarded and coached directly by David in person or via our existing manual process, with growth-plate-safe programming, no 1RM testing under 16, and conservative loading throughout. How age is captured: date of birth, not a free-text age field, so the app computes an exact age rather than trusting a typed number. How parental consent is captured and enforced for 16-17 year olds: at signup, a 16-17 year old provides a parent/guardian's full name, email, and phone number in addition to their own details. Their account is created in a pending parental consent state, no programme, no training content, until the parent/guardian confirms via a one-click link sent to the email address provided. This is a verifiable-parental-consent pattern, not a checkbox the minor ticks on their own behalf. David is notified the moment a 16-17 year old signs up, regardless of whether parental consent has been confirmed yet, so he can follow up personally.
The signup flow computes age from date of birth. Under 16: signup is blocked with a message directing you to contact Boost Fitness directly. 16-17: signup proceeds to a parental consent step. 18+: no additional step. A 16-17 year old's account cannot access programming, nutrition content, or logging until parental consent is confirmed via the email link. If Boost Fitness discovers that a self-service account belongs to someone under 16, or a 16-17 year old's account was never confirmed by a parent/guardian, the account is paused and the parent/guardian contacted to either complete consent or have the account and data deleted.
Where David coaches a client under 16 directly (not through app self-signup): written consent from a parent or legal guardian is required before any programme begins; the parent/guardian is provided with the same programme and safety information as the young athlete; and programming follows conservative, growth-plate-safe guidelines regardless of the client's apparent training maturity.
